Today’s prompt is to write about what brings us peace. But I’m not sure that not many things in our culture can actually bring us any sort of peace or serenity.
Our culture today heavily focuses on success, material wealth, and hustle culture. If peace were easy to be found, wouldn’t there be a less dramatic of rise of mental health problems?
If peace is hard to find, we just need to create it in the physical world ourselves. It manifests from within us. In other words, we are peace. You are peace.
How do we access this? Through gratitude.
Gratitude is powerful. It creates peace, rather than brings it. Personally, I’ve found that taking time to be grateful and positive everyday helps me find more things to be happy about. I’ve found that gratitude cancels out any sourness, guilt, or anger that I feel. It’s easier to let go of what hurts when I choose to focus on what makes me feel like I’m healed.
So, what’s on your gratitude list? Here’s mine:
- music
- my family
- prayers
- sleep
- rain
- journaling
- all of my readers 🙂
Till next time,
Moesha.
