Hey everyone! I’ve finally returned from Boston! These last few weeks have been pretty hectic, so I apologize for not updating on here during that time.
I’m really excited for this prompt though because I was just thinking about making a blog post about why I’ve rebranded this website and where I plan to go with it!
If you weren’t here a few years ago, which are actually most readers here, this used to be a skincare blog and I wrote a lot about skin conditions, skincare trends, and self-love and positivity. While I enjoyed the art of skincare, and I still do, I didn’t really feel like I was writing about something that I’d feel timelessly in love with.
That’s how I came up with the idea to rebrand and write about something I’ve cared about my whole life: journaling. I’ve been journaling since elementary school, but became really consistent with it in sophomore year during the COVID pandemic.
At first, it was more of diary entries, like I had written for my whole life. Eventually, it was like I had put a push pin on a road map and was able to see the distance I’ve travelled overtime on my road. Journaling really helped me see how I’ve changed growing up and view my thoughts from an external point of view.
By the time I was a junior in high school, I realized that self-awareness was quickly becoming an important value of mine. I wrote about it for my application to Harvard summer school, in which I was accepted. In that essay, I wrote about creating a club called “SASS”, or “Self-Awareness for a Stronger Society”. I enjoyed my summer of learning, but forgot about the club rather quickly.
When I returned to Harvard this summer, the idea suddenly reemerged in my thoughts. I was still consistently journaling, in fact, I have become a huge advocate for journaling in my daily life. I decided that I wanted to give SASS a chance by making my blog an open space for my thoughts and everyone else’s too:
SASS’ mission is to facilitate an environment that encourages an emotionally open and strong society. To do so, we want to use journaling as a form of reflection so all ages can learn how to process their emotions, thoughts, and judgements of themselves and the world. Our goal is to make sure future generations have high emotional intelligence and can engage in the world efficiently as leaders after first engaging with themselves.

So, where do I plan to take this website in the future?
I honestly really like just posting a couple times a week about my thoughts about a prompt. But as much as I love learning about myself through journaling, there’s a lot to learn from others too. Eventually, I want to start interviewing people I meet to ask them about their own self-reflections.
I have a lot of passion for journaling and it’s something that I’d like to share through this blog. The practice is a meditation/therapy/creative expression in its own way. I hope that journaling gets the hype it deserves with time.
Till next time,
Moesha.
